Excellent basic campsite
Hard to rate, large area, cheap, basic site porta loos, but always clean. Down side was from campers lack of consideration to others, very noisy even after 11pm with people turning up all hours on Friday night. We enjoyed our weekday stop but will never do a weekend again as pitch became crowded and noisy. Cut off time of 11 pm for entry in vehicles would be wise.
Basic facilities but a great campsite. Plenty of room for kids to run around in open space + campfires as long as they are in a pit. Can get a little noisy on the evenings but it's a nice atmosphere. Definitely pay another visit here at some point.The pic is from the nearest walk to the sea down the footpath from the campsite.Winspit quarry is 20 mins walk which is pretty good for sport climbing.
This is not really a campsite. It's a field with a few porta-showers and portaloos. Fine at a festival, you expect it. Not so bad in average weather. However, we visited during our recent heatwave. We guestimated about 400 campers. All covered in suncream and sand. 4 showers was a little shy. Not to mention that when the cold water holding tank runs out the showers are then scorching hot (as I found out!). Lastly, theres only one water tap for that many people as there's not enough pressure for 2 taps so there's a constant queue for drinking water.Just not what we expect these days from a campsite. On the plus side it's in a great part of Dorset. As long as you're happy with limited facilities, it's cool.
Two taps for hundreds of people. Water kept running out. Queues for toilets. Showers were either freezing cold or scalding hot. No permanent toilet or shower block - just portaloos which werent lit at night time.
