Me and my family have traveled through out Europe and rented houses for about twenty years always satisfied with the accomodation. This summer we rented "The California Barn" near Swanage and this was a terrible experience. The surroundings were full of litter, the house was so filthy and untidy that we had to leave the place the first night and spend that evening trying to find a hotel. We lost 1500 and the first days of our holliday. The Barn is not worth one star but that is the lowest the system goes...
We booked California Barn for my sister's hen weekend. It worked out perfectly. There are 4 bedrooms and a lovely outdoor space. It is reasonably basic, but was actually much nicer than the photos we thought. One thing to note is although it has 4 bathrooms only 2 of those have showers.Karen , the owner, was communicative via email before our stay and she came over and checked on us when we arrived.
My Kids and I stayed there for 3 days and we absolutely loved it. Everything that you would ever need was provided in abundance. It's peaceful, quiet and not too far from the beach. We had an absolutely wonderful time....I would recommend a stay to anyone, in fact I'm organising my next stay already.
